Peterborough Police – Incidents Include Drug Investigation Arrest, Mischief/Weapons Arrest

Drug Investigation Arrest

An investigation by the Peterborough Police Service Drug Unit has resulted in a significant seizure of cocaine and fentanyl.

At approximately 2:15pm on Thursday, July 31, 2025, officers with the Drug Unit arrested a 48-year-old Peterborough man.  They then executed a search warrant at a residence in the Water Street and Marina Boulevard area.

In total officers seized:

  • Approximately 1.2 kilograms of Cocaine
  • Approximately 1 kilogram of Fentanyl
  • Approximately 380 Hydromorphone Pills
  • Drug paraphernalia
  • Cell phones
  • Approximately $21,000 in Canadian currency

The street value of the drugs is estimated at $220,000.

As a result, 48-year-old David Soady of Peterborough was arrested and charged with:

  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine
  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking- Fentanyl
  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking- Hydromorphone
  • Possession Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000 – in Canada

The accused is being held in custody and will appear in court today, August 1, 2025.

 

Mischief/Weapons Arrest

A 37-year-old Peterborough man is facing charges after incidents of the past several days.

At approximately 12:15pm on July 31, 2025, the Peterborough Police Service received multiple calls about a man who seemed very agitated hitting metal poles with a hammer and then being very aggressive toward people including chasing another man while in the Lansdowne Street and The Parkway area.  Upon arrival, officers were directed to the plaza at Lansdowne Street and Goodfellow Road where they located the man.  Given that the man had the hammer and had been aggressive toward others, one officer drew their firearm and the other their Conducted Energy Weapon (CEW).  The man did not listen to demands to put the hammer down and the CEW was deployed twice before officers were able to kick the hammer away from the man and take him into custody.  The man was also wanted in with four other incidents from Wednesday, July 30, 2025

As a result of the investigation, a 37-year-old Peterborough man was arrested and charged with:

  • Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose X2
  • Mischief under $5000 X4
  • Theft under $5000
  • Fail to Comply with Probation Order X4

The accused is currently bound by a probation order with the following condition: to keep the peace and be of good behaviour.

The accused is being held in custody and will appear in court today, August 1, 2025.

 

Drug Arrest

A 39-year-old Peterborough man is facing charges after an incident Thursday evening.

At approximately 6:45pm on July 31, 2025, officers on general patrol were made aware of some suspicious activity in the Brock Street and Bethune Street area.  Upon arrival, officers located a man on a property and took him into custody.

Officers seized:

  • 1 gram of Fentanyl
  • 2 grams of pills
  • Drug paraphernalia
  • Bank cards not in the name of the individual

As a result of the investigation, a 39-year-old Peterborough man was arrested and charged with:

  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance- Other Drugs X2
  • Possession Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000 – in Canada X2

The accused was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court September 9, 2025.
