Video – Durham Regional Police – Toronto Man Charged with Impaired After Fleeing Police (Name Released)

A 43-year-old male is facing numerous charges after failing to stop for police in Oshawa.

On Sunday, June 1, 2025, at approximately 1:55 a.m., members of the Tactical Support Unit (TSU) were travelling eastbound on Highway 401 when they observed a vehicle driving erratically. They attempted a traffic stop, but the vehicle exited the highway, fleeing northbound on Stevenson Road South.

Air1 followed the vehicle until it came to a stop in a green space near Simcoe Street South and Valley Drive. The driver fled on foot, but Air1 was able to provide his location to officers on the ground and he was taken into custody.

Michael WELCH, age 43, of Toronto is charged with numerous offences, including: Impaired Operation of a Conveyance; Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle; Fail to Stop for Police and Operation while Prohibited.
