Cobourg Women Charged with Possession of Property Obtained by Crime
Two Cobourg women are facing charges after police responded to a report of a suspicious person early Saturday morning.

On Saturday, May 17, 2025, at approximately 4:00 a.m., police responded to a report of a suspicious person in the area of Chipping Park Boulevard in Cobourg. Police attended the area and located two women. One woman was inside a vehicle on private property, and in possession of property from the vehicle. The property was recovered and returned to the owner. The 34-year-old Cobourg woman was charged with Theft Under $5,000 and Possession of Property Obtained by Crime.

After further investigation, the second woman, a 33-year-old from Cobourg, was arrested for Possession of Property Obtained by Crime and Breach of Probation in relation to the same occurrence.

Both were released on an undertaking with a future court date.

 

Four Cobourg Residents Charged with Causing Disturbance
Four Cobourg residents were arrested for causing a disturbance downtown Cobourg on Tuesday night.

On Tuesday, May 13, 2025, at approximately 6:30 p.m., police received several 911 calls reporting a group of people were yelling at and assaulting a female behind a downtown business. Police immediately responded.

However, the suspects had fled the scene. The victim sustained minor injuries but did not wish to proceed with an assault investigation.

Police commenced a cause disturbance investigation. Four suspects were identified during the investigation.

Between May 17 and 18, a 34-year-old Cobourg woman, a 40-year-old Cobourg man, a 41-year-old Cobourg man, and a 41-year-old Cobourg woman were located and jointly charged with Causing a Disturbance.

The 34-year-old woman, 40-year-old man, and 41-year-old man were further charged with Fail to Comply with Probation Order. The 41-year-old woman was also charged with Breach of Recognizance to Keep the Peace.

All individuals were released on Undertakings with a court date of June 25, 2025.

 

Cobourg Man Facing Theft, Trespassing at Night, Theft Under $5,000

A 21-year-old Cobourg man is facing charges after police received reports of thefts from vehicles.
On Sunday, May 18, 2025, police received two reports of vehicles being entered overnight while parked at residences in the west end of Cobourg.

In one of the thefts, the complainant’s bank cards were stolen and used at local businesses. After reviewing CCTV footage from both the homes and businesses, police were able to identify the suspect.

Police later observed the suspect riding a bicycle on Division Street, where he was arrested. As a result, a 21-year-old Cobourg man was charged with two counts of Trespassing at Night, Theft Under $5,000, Unauthorized Use of a Credit Card, Possession of Property Obtained by Crime under $5,000, and Failure to Comply with Probation. The accused was held pending a Show Cause Hearing.
