Quinte West OPP – Engulfed Stolen Vehicle on Highway 401

The Quinte West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were called to the 401 due to a fully engulfed stolen vehicle.

On May 15, 2025, at approximately 7:15 a.m. Officers with the Quinte West OPP, the OPP Traffic Incident Management and Enforcement Team (TIME) and Quinte West Fire were dispatched to a vehicle that was fully engulfed in flame on the Eastbound shoulder of the 401 at mile marker 517.

There were no individuals in the vehicle or at the scene. An investigation revealed the vehicle had been stolen from the Durham Region earlier.

Any person with information regarding this incident should contact the Durham Regional Police.
