Peterborough County OPP – Investigating Two Fires Over the Weekend

On May 11, 2025, the Peterborough County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received two separate calls for unrelated fires in Havelock.

On May 11, 2025, just prior to 9:00pm, Peterborough County OPP officers were dispatched to a structure fire on Belmont Twp Concession 8 within the Havelock-Belmont-Methuen Township. Officers arrived on scene to find a fully engulphed structure that the Havelock-Belmont-Methuen Fire Department were currently fighting. There were no injuries reported at the time of the fire. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

The Office of the Fire Marshal was consulted, and the Peterborough County OPP Crime unit will be continuing the investigation.

On May 11, 2025, just prior to midnight, Peterborough County OPP officers were dispatched to a fire at a trailer park located on Fire Route 87 in Havelock-Belmont-Methuen Township. Officers arrived on scene observing a trailer on fire and the North Kawartha Fire Department attempting to put it out. There were no injuries reported at the time of the fire. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

The Office of the Fire Marshal was consulted, and the Peterborough County OPP Crime unit will be continuing the investigation.
