Cobourg Police – Youth Charged Carrying Concealed Weapon

Youth facing charges after police responded to a report of a concealed weapon on Tuesday afternoon.

On Tuesday, May 13, 2025, at approximately 4:30 p.m., a group of people were at Cobourg Beach when they were approached by an unknown male wearing a black balaclava covering his face.

During the interaction, the male lifted his shirt, displaying a black handle of an unknown item tucked into his waistband.

The group reported the incident to police. Officers located the suspect a short distance from the beach and safely made an arrest following a brief foot pursuit.

Police recovered a black machete.

As a result of the police investigation, a 16-year-old Cobourg youth was charged with Carrying a Concealed Weapon and Disguise with Intent.

He is being held for a show cause hearing.
