Belleville Police – Incidents Include Suspicious Vehicle Leads to Charges, Impaired Driving, Stolen Chickens (Names Released)

Total calls for service – Belleville Police responded to 249 calls for service between 5:00 am on April 11, 2025 to 5:00 am on April 14, 2025.

Call regarding suspicious vehicle leads to drug charges
On the 11th of April at 5:27am, Belleville Police received a call regarding a suspicious vehicle parked at a gas station in the city’s west end. The caller reported a male and female were inside the vehicle and the male appeared to be unconscious. When police arrived, both parties were still in the vehicle and police observed drug paraphernalia in plain view. A subsequent search of the vehicle resulted in the seizure of methamphetamine. As a result of the investigation, police arrested and charged 59-year-old Calvin Lyons of Trenton with possession of a controlled substance. He was released on an Undertaking with a court date in May.

Belleville Man Charged with Impaired Driving
On the 12th of April at 1:12am, Belleville Police conducted a traffic stop on Queen St. and spoke with the male driver. As part of the investigation, an Approved Screening Device was administered and the driver was subsequently arrested and transported to the Belleville Police Service for further testing.
As a result of the investigation, 29-year-old Jesse Babcock of Belleville was charged with Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration 80 plus. He was released on an Undertaking with a court date May.

Suspect steals from store and then returns for more
Belleville Police were called to a Millennium Parkway business on April 13th at 4:34pm for a man stealing BBQ chickens. Prior to police arriving, the suspect left and was not located. Approximately 2.5 hours later, the suspect returned and was observed stealing a pair of sunglasses and a ball cap. Police re-attended and arrested the male without incident. Police charged 41-year-old Starsky Hughey of no fixed address with two counts of theft under $5000. He was released on an Undertaking with a court date in May.
