Video – Wheels of Transport Catch Fire Shutting Down Highway 401

The westbound lanes of Highway 401 were shut down west of Colborne after the rear wheels of a commercial motor vehicle caught fire on Monday, February 17, 2025.

Cramahe Township Fire Department was called to the westbound lanes of Highway 401 west of Shelter Valley Road at approximately 2:30 p.m. for reports of the rear wheels of a commercial motor vehicle on fire.

A number of bystanders pulled over and used fire extinguishers, but the fire was too well involved.

The westbound lanes of Highway 401 in the area of the fire were shut down for emergency vehicles to extinguish the fire.

There is no word on the cause and there were no injuries.
