The campaign office for Northumberland-Peterborough South, Provincial candidate David Piccini opened up on Saturday, February 8, 2025 in Cobourg.

The campaign office is located at 1111 Elgin Street West at Northumberland Mall and a number of people from various parts of the riding showed up in support of Piccini who has served as the MPP since 2018.
Doug Ford announced on January 28, 2025 that a provincial election would be called on February 27, 2025.

Piccini has been representing the Progressive Conservative Party of Ontario as a MPP for Northumberland-Peterborough South since 2018.

At the lauch the entranceway to Northumberland Mall was filled with supporters and volunteers supporting Piccini.

Since the election was called, Piccini has been traveling across the riding going door-to-door listening to people and their concerns.

Piccini said it’s about protecting Ontario and the manufacturing jobs, keeping taxes low, keeping the health care system robust and generating revenue to support critical services.

Although people are worried about the proposed tariffs by the U.S. government, Piccini said there is a “silver lining.”

“Premier Ford is uniting our provinces – we’ve got to break down our provincial trade barriers. We don’t need a nanny state. We need to create the jobs. Create the conditions for economic jobs and growth in our communities.”

Piccini said he’s proud to be from the local community and is a proud Canadian..

“We build things in our community. We have an automotive sector that’s soaring in Ontario and we have to keep supporting that and protect those workers – protect those jobs in the face of threats from the United States.”

It was announced recently that for the first time the Progressive Conservatives were supported by the Ontario Professional Fire Fighters Association representing 12,000 firefighters from across Ontario.

“We’ve been working closely to protect firefighters and their families and for me that was an endorsement I was so touched to receive.”

After the opening of the campaign office, Piccini was back hitting the streets canvassing with his team in Port Hope and Cobourg.
