Tonight’s Page Playoff Match-Ups Set at Ontario Curling Championships

In Local, Sports

The participants in the first Page playoff match-ups on the men’s and women’s sides have been determined at the Ontario Curling championships at the Cobourg Community Centre.

Skip Scott Howard defeated Mark Kean 8-3 in the men’s ‘B’ final during this morning’s draw and will face Sam Mooibroek tonight while Danielle Inglis, who earned an 8-5 women’s ‘B’ final win over Chelsea Brandwood, will take on Hailey Armstrong.

Mooibroek and Armstrong, who are the lone remaining undefeated teams, advanced Wednesday evening after winning their respective ‘A’ finals.

The Page playoff 1 versus 2 games are scheduled for 7 p.m. tonight at the CCC. The winners will move on directly to Sunday’s championship games.

With today’s defeats, the Kean and Brandwood teams have now dropped down to the ‘C’ bracket for rinks that have lost twice in the triple-knockout tournaments, but will have one more shot to advance to the Page playoffs.

There will be two final ‘C’ division games for both the men and women Saturday at 9 a.m. with the winners of each advancing to their respective Page playoff 3 versus 4 games Saturday at 2 p.m.

Semifinals are scheduled for Saturday at 7 p.m. with the championship games to follow Sunday at 10 a.m. for the women and 2:30 p.m. for the men. The winners will qualify for the women’s Scotties Tournament of Hearts and men’s Montana’s Brier national championships.
