(apologizes for audio with video – strong winds)

There were only a few hearty souls who ventured onto Lake Ontario on Monday December 30, 2024 to try the surf.

A surfer, paddleboarder and a person on a hydrofoil ventured off Victoria Beach in Cobourg hitting the pounding waves of Lake Ontario.

With wind gusts up to 58 kph and the temperature feeling like -7, both the surfer and paddleboarder spent more time in the water than riding the surf.

But the hydrofoiler seemed to be the best on the water using the wind to go out onto the lake, then riding the surf in.

Pounding into the east pier, the waves seem to explode sending water shooting skyward.

It seemed to be even to windy for most of the waterfowl who took refuge in the basin of the harbour.
