The two retail outlets run by the Northumberland Hills Hospital Auxiliary continue to bring in a steady stream of revenue – all for the benefit of the hospital.

Auxiliary Chair Selena Forsyth reported on November’s net revenue at the December hospital board meeting.

The Little Treasure Shoppe, their gift shop located just inside the entrance of the hospital, brought in $11,904. Petticoat Lane, their thrift store at 25 Munroe St., brought in $19,069. That’s a total of $30,973 for one month.

As for their latest capital project, Forsyth said, it’s the privacy curtains in patient rooms – a $225,000 initiative.

These have replaced the ones that were installed when the hospital opened in 2003.

“They were old,” she declared.

“We very much wanted to be part of that, so we gave a cheque for $110,000 as a down payment. We’re hoping we can add to our donation to meet the full cost by March 31.”

NHH Foundation Chair Gavin Ivory said that, for this fiscal year, their fundraising totals stand at $2.1-million though, with a target of $4.5-million, they still have work to do. Fortunately, a number of events are on the horizon, from Galalicious, the Spry Family Christmas event and JJ’s Steak & Burgers Christmas tree raffle to the annual Light Up A Life appeal now in progress.
