Peterborough Police – Incidents Include Break and Enter Arrest, Impaired Arrest (No Names Released)

Break and Enter Arrest

A 26-year-old Peterborough man is facing a break and enter charge after an incident early Wednesday morning.

At approximately 4:45 am on November 27, 2024, officers were called to a business in the Charlotte Street and Downie Street area after a report of an unwanted person in the business. Upon arrival, officers noticed the front door of the business had been smashed and that cigarettes had been taken. Officers canvassed the area and located a man matching the description given to police. He was taken into custody.

As a result of the investigation, a 26-year-old Peterborough man was arrested and charged with:

  • Break, Enter a place – commit indictable offence

The accused was held in custody and appeared in court on Wednesday, November 27, 2024.

 

Impaired Arrest

A 21-year-old Peterborough man is facing impaired charges after an incident Wednesday morning.

At approximately 7:00am on November 27, 2024, officers were called to a single motor vehicle collision in the Raymond Street and Fairbairn Street area.  Upon arrival, officers learned that a vehicle had crashed into rocks on a residential driveway.  Through conversation with the driver, the officer noticed signs of impairment.

As a result of the investigation, a 21-year-old Peterborough man was arrested and charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Possess more than one license (Highway Traffic Act)
  • Careless driving (Highway Traffic Act)
  • Operate a motor vehicle without insurance (Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act)

The accused was issued an automatic 90-day license suspension and a seven-day vehicle impoundment.

The accused was released on appearance notice and is scheduled to appear in court January 14, 2025.
