Quinte West OPP – Traffic Stop Leads to Seizure of Firearms and Drugs (Name Released)

The Quinte West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has obtained a warrant for the arrest of an individual who fled a traffic stop.

On Monday August 18, 2025, at approximately 7:45 p.m., the OPP Traffic Incident Management and Enforcement Team (TIME) conducted a traffic stop of a vehicle on Highway 401 eastbound near Wooler Road, after observing it operating at speeds in excess of 150 km/hr.

During the investigation, the driver of the vehicle fled. Officers with Quinte West OPP, Emergency Response Team, Canine Unit and Aviation Services were dispatched to assist in a search. The search ended with negative results. A search of the vehicle resulted in seizure of a quantity of suspected fentanyl, cocaine and a firearm. A warrant has been issued for the driver of the vehicle.

A second individual, associated with the incident, was taken into custody without incident. Officers subsequently located cannabis and currency.

Jevon, ARMSTRONG, 22-years-old, from Ajax, has been charged with the following offences:

·        Flight from peace officer

·        Resist peace officer

·        Drive vehicle or boat with cannabis readily available

·        Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5000

·        Possession for the purpose of distributing

·        Possession of an identity document – (two counts)

The accused was held in custody pending a bail hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice in Belleville.
