Notice to Cobourg Collegiate Institute Families Concerning Lockdown

In Local

November 25, 2024
Dear Cobourg Collegiate Institute Families,
We wanted to share this note home to inform you that our school entered a brief “lockdown” situation today at the request of Cobourg Police Services, as a precautionary measure, while they investigated sounds that were reported similar to a gun shot in the area.

Following their investigation on-site at the school as well as the surrounding neighbourhood area, police concluded that there was no risk to student safety and that our normal day could resume. The school was advised to lift the lock down at approximately 12:55pm. We extend our thanks to local police services
and to students and staff for their understanding and helpful response through this situation.

We appreciate that situations such as these can be concerning for students, families and staff. We appreciate your continued support and understanding that such matters are taken seriously and thoroughly investigated.

Sincerely

James Patenall

Principal
