Video – Numerous Resources Respond to Fuel Spill in Cobourg Harbour

In Local

A number of resources responded to a fuel spill in Cobourg Harbour on Thursday, August 7, 2025.

Reports indicate that a sailboat had a possible fuel spill on Wednesday evening.

Today’s Northumberland reached out to the Town of Cobourg on Thursday morning for comment, but have yet to receive any information by 5 p.m.

On Thursday, members of the Cobourg Fire Department were on scene and representatives from GFL Environmental Services.

The fueling station at Cobourg Marina was blocked off until the spill was cleared.

A boom preventing the spill from spreading was placed across the northwest section of the harbour area to help contain the spill.

Representatives from GFL Environmental Services stayed onsite for most of the day cleaning up the spill.

Today’s Northumberland will provide an update when the Town of Cobourg responds.
