Peterborough Police – Incidents Include Voyeurism Arrest, Impaired Arrest, Weapons Arrest (No Names Released)

Voyeurism Arrest

A 65-year-old Peterborough man is facing several voyeurism charges after incidents at a Peterborough business in early September.

Officers with the Investigative Services branch were assigned to the case after staff at the Winner’s store reported at least three incidents of a male using his phone to look up a female’s skirt on Sunday, September 1, 2024, between 2:15pm and 3:00pm.

On October 4, 2024, officers executed a search warrant at a Peterborough residence and as a result of warrant and investigation, a 65-year-old Peterborough man was arrested and charged with:

  • Voyeurism X3

The accused was held in custody and appeared in court October 4, 2024, and will be back in court on October 22, 2024.

Impaired Arrest

A 43-year-old Peterborough man is facing impaired charges after an incident Monday morning.

At approximately 11:30am on October 14, 2024, officers were called after a vehicle collided with a security gate in the London Street and Water Street area.  Upon arrival, officers located the driver and during conversation noticed signs of impairment.

As a result of the investigation, a 43-year-old Peterborough man was arrested and charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

The accused was released on an undertaking and will appear in court November 26, 2024.

 

Theft Suspect Sought

The Peterborough Police Service is investigating after a wallet was stolen from the hand of a customer at a business in the Hunter Street East and Burnham Street area Monday morning.

At approximately 8:00am on October 14, 2024, officers were called to a convenience store after a 71-year-old woman reported having her wallet taken out of her hand.  The woman was not injured.

  • White
  • Approximately 5’7″
  • Medium build
  • Short black beard
  • Black hoodie, with hood up
  • Red/black/white black jacket, soft material

Weapons Arrest

A 44-year-old Peterborough man is facing weapons charges after an incident Friday morning.

At approximately 10:40am on October 11, 2024, officers were called to Charlotte Street and Downie Street after reports of a man walking in the area with what appeared to be a rifle. Several minutes later, the accused was arrested at gunpoint.  After the arrest officers seized the weapon, which was a break action pellet gun, and some ammunition.

As a result of the investigation, a 44-year-old Peterborough man was arrested and charged with:

  • Carry concealed weapon
  • Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose
  • Possession of Firearm or Ammunition contrary to Prohibition Order

The accused is bound by a lifetime prohibition order to not possess firearms or ammunition.

The accused was held in custody and appeared in court October 11, 2024.
