Video – Crosswalk on the Move in Cobourg

In Local

A new crosswalk is being installed on King Street East just west of College Street.

Communications Manager with the Town of Cobourg, Kara Euale said the Town completed a study in October 2023 reviewing the crosswalk at its current location – immediately at King and College.

It was determined that the crosswalk would be better served being moved to a location of increased visibility. It was also recommended that the crosswalk be upgraded from a Level 2 Type D – its current setup – to a Level 2 Type C with Rectangular Rapid Flashing Beacons.

Next Steps for the project will be the installation of the Rectangular Rapid Flashing Beacons.

Once the new crosswalk is completed, staff will remove the existing crosswalk so that there is only one crosswalk in this area.

The current one has been in place since 2015.
