It was a historic and memorable day for 28th annual Lakeside Antique and Classic Car Show that was held on Saturday, July 13, 2024 in Cobourg’s Victoria Park.
It was an amazing show with over 200 gorgeous antique and classic vehicles from across the region.
Along with antique and classic cars, live music was played in the bandshell.
All proceeds for the event went to Ed’s House Northumberland Hospice Care Centre.
Organizers proudly announced that it was the most collected in the history of the car show with a amount of $3,604.05 presented to Joel Scott who is the Director, Donor Relations and Communications with Community Care Northumberland.
“The event was a reminder of the tremendous generosity of our community,” said Scott.
“This was the first year The Ed’s House Foundation was the recipient charity and the Lakeside Antique and Classic Car Show exceeded all expectations with a record amount raised. We are grateful for the partnership and its membership. Plans are already being discussed for next year’s event.
After a number of prizes were handed out to the winners in various categories of vehicles there was a 50/50 draw.
Jamie Baggaley won $760 in the draw.
But it was the reason Baggaley was at the show was for his late father.
After receiving the draw money, Baggaley told the audience that his father passed away three months ago at Ed’s House.
“His pride and joy was his 1986 Trans Am he owned since new and I couldn’t think of a better way to honour him than to bring his car down here and show it off for him.”
“Thank you very much to Ed’s House and everything that they do,” Baggaley added.
The money will be going to Ed’s House to buy a stone in memory of Baggaley’s father.
Scott added after Baggaley spoke saying, “seeing Jamie win the 50/50 draw and to hear him tell his story about the care his father and his family received at Ed’s House from our care teams was powerful. He pledged his winnings to purchase a tribute stone on our memorial walkway to pay permanent tribute to his father. We will be happy to honour his family’s wishes. Seeing as he was there displaying a classic car near and dear to his father’s heart was a fitting end to a beautiful day.”
