Northumberland OPP – Warkworth Woman Charged with Impaired, Fail to Surrender License (No Name Given)

On November 18, 2023, at approximately 11:00 p.m., a member of the Northumberland Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) was on general patrol on County Road 30 when a motor vehicle was observed in the ditch.

The officer approached the vehicle and the lone occupant advised they were not injured. There were no other vehicles or persons involved.

A 21-year-old female driver from Warkworth has been charged with:

· Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

· Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs

· Driver fail to surrender licence

· Young driver – blood alcohol concentration above zero.

A further 90-day Administrative Driver Licence Suspension (ADLS) and a seven-day vehicle impound was initiated as per statute.

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg at a future date.

The OPP reminds motorists that no amount of alcohol or drug is acceptable to consume and drive. Should you observe a suspected impaired driver, please dial 911 or contact the Ontario Provincial Police at 1-888-310-1122.
