Quinte West OPP – Three Impaired Investigations Over One Weekend (Names Released)

Occurrences all took place in November

The Quinte West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has laid charges for three separate impaired driving investigations.

On November 5, 2023, at approximately 7:00 p.m., officers conducted a traffic stop on Hamilton Road, Quinte West after observing a traffic violation. An investigation led to the driver being arrested.

Jeffery TOMS, 42 years old from Quinte West, has been charged with the following offences:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol or drugs
  • Failure or refusal to comply with breath demand

On November 4, 2023, at approximately 4:00 a.m., officers responded to a residence in Trenton for reports of a heated dispute. The accused left the area prior to police arrival but was located a short time later, after driving into a hydro pole. An investigation led to the driver being arrested.

Mathew PRINCE, 20 years old from Belleville, has been charged with the following offences:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol or drugs
  • Failure or refusal to comply with breath demand
  • Assault
  • Unlawfully in a dwelling house
  • Mischief – Destroy or damage property

On November 4, 2023, at approximately 1:00 a.m., officers conducted a traffic stop on Dundas Street East, Trenton after observing a traffic violation . An investigation led to the driver being arrested.

Christopher MCILMOYLE, 39 years old from Quinte West, has been charged with the following offences:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol or drugs
  • Operation while impaired – Blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Possession of a schedule 1 substance – Methamphetamine

The accused were released from custody and are scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Belleville on a future court date. Additionally, their vehicles were impounded for seven days, and licences were suspended for 90 days.
