In Police Blotter

A 28-year-old Cobourg man is facing charges after police responded to a report of theft from a residential garage.

On Saturday, October 14, 2023, police attended a residence in the area of Carroll Crescent and East House Crescent in Cobourg after receiving a report of theft.

Police investigations revealed that an individual had entered the residential garage and stole several items.

The homeowner later located and retrieved some of the items nearby. A subsequent police investigation identified the suspect, who was located and arrested. The property recovery by police was returned to the homeowner.

As a result, a 28-year-old Cobourg man was charged with theft under $ 5,000 and possession of property obtained by crime.

The accused was released on an undertaking with a future court date.

(Editor’s Note: Today’s Northumberland has reached out to Cobourg Police asking why the press release didn’t state the items were recovered at the encampment)
