Cobourg Fire Crews Attend Minor Hazardous Material Spill Outside Encampment

Cobourg Fire Department responded to a small hazardous material spill in front of the encampment at the former Brookside Youth Centre on Saturday, September 30, 2023.

Shortly before midnight, Cobourg Fire Department were notified by security at the location that three car batteries fell out of the back of a truck leaving the encampment. Two of the batteries broke from the impact.

Fire crews took the batteries off the road and placed absorbent on the roadway and called Public Works to remove the batteries.
