Cobourg Police – Driver Charged After Police Locate Stolen Vehicle (Name Released)

A 42-year-old Durham man is facing charges after police locate a stolen vehicle.

On Monday, May 8, 2023, at 1:00 p.m., police received information about a male operating a stolen truck in the Town of Cobourg.

Police located the vehicle and person of interest, matching the description provided.

As a result of the police investigation, Steven PAYNE, a 42-year-old man from Durham Region, was arrested without incident and charged with the following offences:

1. Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000 contrary to Section 355(a) of the Criminal Code (CC)

2. Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000 contrary to Section 354(1)(a) CC

3. Drive Motor Vehicle No License contrary to Section 32(1) of the Highway Traffic Act

4. Fail to Comply with Release Order contrary to Section 145(5)(a) CC

5. Breach of Recognizance contrary to Section 811 CC

6. Four counts of Fail to Comply with Probation contrary to Section 733.1(1) CCC
