Video – Concert Band of Cobourg Closes Out Summer with a Night of Music Chosen by the Community

In Community, entertainment, Local

There are some sounds that simply belong to summer in Cobourg.

The breeze coming off Lake Ontario. The sound of people gathering in Victoria Park.

And, of course, the music of the Concert Band of Cobourg.

On Tuesday evening, September 1, the band brought its summer concert season in Victoria Park to a close, giving the community one final night of music before summer begins to slip into fall.

And what better way to finish than by letting the audience choose the music.

Tuesday’s concert featured a collection of requests gathered from concertgoers throughout the summer months.

The selections reflected the wide range of music enjoyed by the band’s loyal audience and provided a fitting finale to another successful season of outdoor concerts.

Throughout the summer, the Concert Band of Cobourg has once again made Victoria Park a gathering place for music lovers, families, friends and visitors.

Week after week, people have brought their lawn chairs, settled into the park and enjoyed an evening of live music under the Cobourg sky.

For many, the concerts have become much more than simply an opportunity to hear a band play.

They have become part of summer.

Tuesday night was the final concert of the season — one last opportunity to sit in Victoria Park, listen to familiar music and enjoy the company of others before the routines of September take over.

As the final notes faded into the evening air, another summer tradition came to an end.

The chairs will eventually be packed away. The crowds will disappear. The evenings will become shorter and cooler.

But for those who were there Tuesday night, the memories of another summer of music in Victoria Park will remain.

And when next summer arrives, chances are the Concert Band of Cobourg will once again strike up the music — and the community will once again gather to listen.
