Homeless Couple Given Until February 10 To Find New Location Before Encampment Dismantled

In Local

A couple experiencing homelessness has been given a bit of a reprieve after numerous resources came together for a temporary solution.

On Thursday, February 2, 2023 a number of resources from Northumberland County, along with the Town of Cobourg met with the couple who have an encampment on Kerr Street east of Division Street where they have been living for several months.

The area is not publicly owned landed, but after meetings with several organizations, including the owner of the property, the couple have been given until February 10 to come out with a solution.

It’s believed during the cold, frigid weather the last two days, they have been put up in a hotel, but after February 10, the couple will have to find somewhere, other than private property to live.
