Peterborough County OPP – Several Drivers Charged with Stunt Racing

Members of the Peterborough County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) charged several drivers with stunt racing over the weekend.

(DOURO-DUMMER TOWNSHIP, ON)-At approximately 3:30pm on October 30, 2022, officers clocked a vehicle travelling at 175km/h in a posted 80km/h zone on County Road 40.

The 51-year-old driver of Asphodel-Norwood Township, was charged with:

• Drive motor vehicle-perform stunt-excessive speed

The accused had their driver’s licence suspended for 30 days and vehicle impounded for 14 days.

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Peterborough on December 12, 2022.

(OTONABEE-SOUTH MONAGHAN TOWNSHIP, ON)– Shortly after 2:00pm on October 29, 2022, officers clocked a vehicle travelling at 157km/h in a posted 80km/h zone on Highway 7.

The 38-year-old driver of Tweed, was charged with:

• Drive motor vehicle-perform stunt-excessive speed

• Drive vehicle or boat with cannabis readily available

The accused had their driver’s licence suspended for 30 days and vehicle impounded for 14 days.

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on December 12, 2022,

(OTONABEE-SOUTH MONAGHAN TOWNSHIP, ON)-Shortly before 2:30am on October 30, 2022, officers clocked a vehicle travelling at 180km/h in a posted 80km/h zone on Highway 7.

The 26-year-old driver of Mississauga, was charged with:

• Drive motor vehicle-perform stunt-excessive speed

• Dangerous operation

The accused had their driver’s licence suspended for 30 days and vehicle impounded for 14 days.

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Peterborough on December 6, 2022.
