Cobourg Police – Woman Arrested for Second Time in Less Than A Week Facing Serious Drug Charges (Name Not Released)

Oshawa woman has been charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking after police conducted a traffic stop in the Town of Cobourg.
On Sunday, October 16, 2022, a 9:50 p.m., police on general patrol observed an individual known to be on a court-ordered release with strict conditions driving a vehicle on University Avenue East. Police initiated a traffic stop to conduct a compliance check.

Officers determined the driver was not complying with the condition to be in their residence by curfew unless in the direct company of surety and was subsequently arrested. During the arrest, police located a quantity of illegal drugs with an estimated street value of $25,000 and over $1,000 in Canadian currency.

• 2.5 grams of suspected Heroin

• 25.82 grams of suspected purple Fentanyl

• 102.23 grams of suspected Crystal Methamphetamine

• 0.42 grams of suspected Crack Cocaine

As a result of the police investigation, the 25-year-old suspect of Oshawa was charged with the following offences:

1. Fail to Comply with Release Order – other than to attend court, contrary to section 145(5)(a) of the Criminal Code

2. Possession of Schedule 1 Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Heroin, contrary to section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA)

3. Possession of Schedule 1 Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Crack Cocaine, contrary to section 5(2) of the CDSA

4. Possession of Schedule 1 Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Crystal Methamphetamine, contrary to section 5(2) of the CDSA

5. Possession of Schedule 1 Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Fentanyl, contrary to section 5(2) of the CDSA

6. Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000 – contrary to section 354(1)(a) of the Criminal Code

The suspect was held for a bail hearing on October 17, 2022.
