Police Investigating Decorated Dead Raccoon in Downtown Cobourg

In Local, Police Blotter

Cobourg Police are investigating after someone decorated a dead raccoon and left it on the front lawn of a business.

On Tuesday morning a number of people saw a dead raccoon that was “decorated” and had a mask on the front lawn of a Covert Street business.

“I was shocked,” said Cobourg councillor Adam Bureau.

“I thought it was disgusting and why would somebody even do that to a dead animal.”

The dead raccoon had a Christmas mask on and a sign placed beside it said, “naughty elf.”

Other items were strewn around the area.

Nearby business owner Bri Crossen said it was “disturbing.”

“I just keep thinking how did  they get the poor raccoon?  And I hope it wasn’t tortured before it’s death.  It made me sick to my stomach all day.”

Cobourg Police along with Cobourg Bylaw are investigating.
