Great Blue Heron Spotted Along Ganaraska River in Port Hope

In Local, Photo Gallery

A great blue heron was hanging around the waters edge of the Ganaraska River just north of Walton Street in Port Hope on Saturday, October 7, 2022.

The average six of a great blue heron ranges from 3.2 feet to 4.5 feet, but it has a wingspan of 5.5 foot to 6.6 feet and can cruise up to 30 miles per hour.

At one point the heron seemed to be keeping an eye on one of the salmon and even dove into try and catch something, but came up empty.  Shortly after it took flight north, up the river.
