United Way CEO Bobbie Dawson announces the resignation and appointment of Acting Executive Director Maggie Darling.
CEO of United Way Northumberland for the past three years, Bobbie Dawson, has announced that she will be resigning her post at the end of August. The difficult decision comes because of changes in her personal life.
“My time with United Way Northumberland and this community has been incredible. The generosity that exists in Northumberland County is unlike anything I have seen before, and it is with mixed emotions that I have made the decision to pursue other opportunities. I am confident that the organization will be left in very capable hands with dedicated donors and fantastic leadership from a committed Board and staff team. I look forward to following the great work of the organization.” said Bobbie.
Taking over the lead will be Acting Executive Director Maggie Darling, who first started with the organization in 2015. Maggie, a native of Northumberland County, steps up from her role as Director of Communications and Community Impact. She brings more than a decade of experience in community engagement roles to the position and several academic achievements, including a diploma in public relations and a bachelor’s degree in communications. She is currently completing a Master of Communication Management with McMaster and Syracuse University.
“Having grown up in Northumberland County, I have always loved working for an organization that makes a difference in the community that I call home,” says Maggie. “I’m honoured and look forward to this new role within United Way Northumberland, and continuing to work with staff, Board, volunteers, donors and community members in building a stronger, healthier, safer community for all.”
The United Way Board of Directors is pleased to welcome Maggie Darling to the role of Acting Executive Director as it looks toward the future of the organization and continuing the important work of creating a better community for all.
