Quinte West OPP – Vehicle Rollover Results in Multiple Charges (Name Released)

The Quinte West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has laid charges of impaired driving and possessing stolen property following a single vehicle rollover.

On August 5, 2022 at approximately 6:50 p.m., Quinte West OPP responded to a single vehicle collision on Foxboro Stirling Road in Quinte West. On arrival, officers observed a pickup truck pulling a trailer overturned in a ditch. The driver of the vehicle was arrested for impaired operation and was subsequently transported to hospital by paramedics with non life-threatening injuries. The accused completed breath testing at the hospital where it was determined their blood alcohol level was well above the legal limit. It was also learned that the truck driven by the accused was reported stolen out of Fox Creek, Alberta, and the trailer was reported stolen from the Township of Stirling Rawdon. The accused was eventually released from hospital and transferred into the custody of the Central Hastings OPP where he was arrested on an outstanding warrant.

Dale KAHLER, 45 years old from Eldorado, ON has been charged with the following offences:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Possession of property obtained by crime over $5000 – three counts
  • Theft over $5000
  • Driving while under suspension; and
  • Use plate not authorized for vehicle

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Belleville on August 25, 2022.
