Update – Northumberland OPP – Deceased Identified in Highway 401 Fatal Motor Vehicle Collision

Members of the Northumberland Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are currently investigating a fatal motor vehicle collision that shut down Highway 401 west bound traffic for several hours in the Vernonville rd area in Alnwick Haldimand.

On Thursday July 28, 2022 at 3:09 p.m., the Northumberland OPP responded to a motor vehicle collision that occurred on Highway 401 west bound 2 and Vernonville Rd in Alnwick Haldimand. The collision involved an SUV and a tractor trailer. As a result of the collision, the driver of the SUV, Laureen MITCHELL (age 61) of Campbellford, was pronounced deceased at the scene.
