Habitat for Humanity Northumberland Launches Finish A Home Fundraising Campaign for Hastings Build

In Community, Local

On August 8th, Habitat for Humanity Northumberland is launching the 3rd Finish A Home fundraising campaign.

Finish A Home is exactly that – a fundraiser that allows donors to help pay for the finishes in a Habitat home.

Donors can pick from a list of items including toilets, sinks, light fixtures, and flooring and then contribute the equivalent cost of those items as a cash donation. This year’s campaign has a goal of raising $20,000. A shopping list of items is available both online at habitatnorthumberland.ca and in-person at the ReStore location at 764 Division St. in Cobourg.

The funds donated through this campaign will be used to help finish a new home currently under construction at 57 Queen St. in the Village of Hastings. The groundbreaking ceremony for this project was held on April 14th, 2022 and the construction crew, with the help of volunteers, have made significant progress on this house and will be ready to add the finishes within the coming months.

To date, this fundraising campaign has raised over $33,000. This year’s Finish A Home campaign will run from Monday August 8th until Friday August 26th. During this three-week period, Habitat hopes to raise $20,000 to help finish this home.

At the conclusion of this campaign, a final donation tally will be announced on Habitat’s website and social media platforms. Through this campaign, supporters will work alongside Habitat Northumberland to help a local family build strength, stability, and independence through affordable homeownership.
