Durham Regional Police – Man Charged After Extensive Damage to Whitby Motel (Name Released)

Police arrested a 41-year-old male after he caused extensive damage at a Whitby Motel on Saturday morning.

 

On Saturday, July 9, 2022, at approximately 1:30 a.m., members of Central West Division responded to a call at a motel on Consumers Drive and Garden Street. Police arrived to find the suspect damaging property and causing a disturbance. The suspect also pulled the fire alarm and deployed several fire extinguishers in the motel. All the customers had to evacuate the premise due to the disturbance and fire alarm that was activated. Property damage is estimated at approximately $100,000.

 

The suspect was arrested and charged.

 

Paul TRENWITH, age 41, of Pontypool was charged with: Mischief Over $5,000; Make False Fire Alarm; Cause Disturbance and Unlawfully Possess Schedule I Substance (crack-cocaine)

 

He was held for a bail hearing.
