Cobourg Residents Celebrated Earth Day with the Season Opening of the Ecology Garden

In Community, Local

Cobourg residents celebrated Earth Day at the Ecology Garden on April 23rd.

The event integrated environmentalism and spiritualism.

A smudging ceremony was bookended by the SONG children’s choir performing “Let’s Go Fly a Kite” and “Wave”.

Rev. Michelle Singh spoke about “Greening Sacred Spaces” – a program that helps faith groups work toward a more sustainable future.

Members of Interfaith Northumberland and Villa St. Joseph did short readings that spoke to environmentalism and the ceremony wrapped up with Jessica Outram, Cobourg’s Poet Laureate, presenting a poem from her new collection.
