Engage Cobourg Launches Survey for On-Demand Transit Users

In City Hall, Local

Residents encouraged to share feedback through Public Engagement platform.

The Town of Cobourg’s Communications Department is pleased to launch a new public engagement project, ‘On-Demand Transit Survey,’ on Engage Cobourg.

The Town of Cobourg commenced a one-year pilot project to offer residents On-Demand services, which included adding virtual transit stops throughout the Town where transit services were never offered with fixed route service.

Since the implementation of On-Demand services on April 19, 2021, average ride times onboard Cobourg Transit have been reduced from up to one (1) hour down to an average of 10-minute trip time.

The Town would like to hear from you regarding your experiences with On-Demand Transit.

How is On Demand different from traditional (fixed route) transit service?
On-Demand Transit is a shared-ride public transit service without a fixed schedule or route. The bus travel is optimized by computer software, and it is based upon rider trip requests on a first come first served basis. Trips can be requested in advance (up to one week) or same day.

How to Participate on Engage Cobourg
Residents are encouraged to share their thoughts by participating in the following public engagement opportunities:
Take the survey.
Comment in the forum.

The survey is open until Monday, February 28. Paper copies of the survey are also available on-board transit busses and may be returned to the driver or dropped off at Victoria Hall, 55 King Street West in the finance drop box on the west side of the building.
