It’s a girl! First NHH baby of the new year welcomed on Sunday, January 2nd, 2022

Northumberland Hills Hospital (NHH) welcomed its first baby of the new year on Sunday, January 2nd at 5:01PM!

A first child for Julia Doorenspleet and Michael Bamsey of Newtonville, baby Renna Lisa Bamsey weighed 7 pounds, 1.8 ounces (3,230 grams) at birth.

The happy family extends special thanks to midwives Taryn Woolsey and Julia Merkler of New Life Midwives, and the entire nursing team in the Maternal/Child Care Unit at NHH.
As is tradition at NHH, Renna will go home with a gift from the family of the first baby born last year – a lovely gift basket prepared and delivered in December.

The Maternal/Child Care team at NHH welcomed approximately 600 births at the hospital in the last fiscal year, thanks to a strong partnership with local obstetrician-gynecologists, family
physicians, anesthesiologists, and local midwifery groups.

Designed with the unique needs of newborns, their mothers and family members in mind, NHH’s Maternal Child Care unit is equipped with six labour and delivery beds, each in their own private
suite, a Caesarean-section operating room, advanced fetal and patient monitoring and a comfortable family lounge.
