Northumberland OPP – Local Store Keeper Donates Rare OPP Stetson to Museum

In Community, Local

On Tuesday November 30, 2021 Inspector Jeff Martin of the Northumberland Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) had the pleasure to meet store keeper and curator Ray Cobbing, of Ray Cobbing’s Antique and Collectibles located at the corner of Morganston Rd and County Rd 25 in Trent Hills.

Inspector Martin had become aware of an OPP issued Stetson hat being sold online and reached out to the seller to discuss the uniform piece and the risks associated with non-police citizens having access to authentic police uniforms and equipment. Ray graciously made the decision to donate the stetson to the OPP for display purposes.

The Northumberland OPP would like to extend thanks Ray Cobbling for his consideration and donation in this matter. This particular version of the stetson hat was rare and few were issued to officers.  The hat will now be displayed in the museum at the OPP General Headquarters in Orillia, where it can be enjoyed as a piece of the OPP’s history.
