Canadian Junior Hockey League Names Trenton #1

In Hockey

It is a first for the Trenton Golden Hawks Junior A Hockey Club. The Canadian Junior Hockey League released their Top 20 Rankings for the week ending October 17th, and the Hawks are #1.

To October 17th, Trenton had the most games played without a loss in all the CJHL Not only were they 7-0, five of those wins came on the road.

Coach Peter Goulet says, “It is a great honour and is recognition for all the hard work that the entire organization has done. It starts with the ownership, the management, staff, volunteers, the players, and of course the fans. As wonderful as it is to receive this honour, it cannot and will not go to our heads. There are way too many great teams in our league that will humble us, if we do not humble ourselves.”

As of Monday October 18th, the Golden Hawks had the best winning percentage, most goals for, number one power play, and the league leaders for goals, assists and points (Assists/Points – Bancroft – 12/17, Goals – McIntosh – 7).

Peter Goulet says the team has room for improvement. “If you get complacent, you lose. The club has ways of getting better, and we know that. Every single practice, game, every shift must be a battle. There are far too many great teams in this league to be happy with where you are.”

Trenton’s next action is Thursday evening in Caledon, before returning Friday night to welcome the Mississauga Chargers at 7:30. Tickets at www.trentongoldenhawks.ca
