Update – Northumberland OPP – Collision Injures ATV Operator

(MUNICIPALITY OF TRENT HILLS, ON) – On Sunday February 7, 2021, at approximately 3:00 pm, members from the Northumberland Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) , Northumberland Paramedics Service and the Trent Hills Fire Department, attended a location on Concession Road 8 West just west of County Road 25, after receiving a report of motor vehicle collision involving an All-Terrain Vehicle (ATV).

Initial investigation shows that a black Kia sedan was travelling westbound on Concession Road 8 West located north of the village of Warkworth, when it collided with an ATV at t he crest of a hill. The impact caused the rider to be ejected off the ATV. The 71-year-old male operator of the ATV was taken by ambulance to a nearby hospital then transported to trauma center in Kingston to be treated for serious injuries sustained from collision. The occupants of the Kia sedan were uninjured.

Concession Road 8 West was closed for several hours while OPP Central Region Technical Collision Investigators (TCI) attended to measure and document the scene.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
