In Community, Local

First time in weeks residents and staff at Hope Street Terrace Long Term Care facility have had reason to smile.

But on Wednesday, January 27, 2021 residents and staff received the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine.

Executive Director of Hope Street Terrace, April Beckett said 54 residents from the unaffected home areas and 11 staff were vaccinated.

“We have enough vaccine to vaccinate the remaining residents that were affected by COVID once the outbreak is over.”

“I cannot tell you how thankful we are that this was made available to our residents,” Beckett told Today’s Northumberland.

“They are our family and I couldn’t be more thrilled to have this added protection for them.”

Hope Street Terrace Long Term Care had their first confirmed COVID case on January 1.

Within a few weeks, 16 residents tested positive for COVID, two residents died and a number of staff also tested positive.
