In Editor Choice, Local, Photo Gallery

A Perrytown home, north of Port Hope was destroyed by fire on Thursday, January 14, 2021.

At approximately 5:20 p.m. all three Port Hope Fire Stations were dispatched to Perrytown Road just off of County Road 10 for a structure fire.

When crews arrived the two-storey home was fully enveloped in flames.

Immediately assistance was requested from neighbouring Hamilton Township Fire Department and water tankers responded.

From the first arrival firefighters attacked the fire from the outside as an interior attack was to dangerous due to the fire conditions.

Portable water ponds were set-up on County Road 10 for tankers to unload their water.

Firefighters also had to contend with down live hydro lines on the north side of the home and a steel roof which held the flames inside.

Northumberland OPP, Northumberland County Paramedics, hydro crews and a roads crew were also dispatched to the scene.

At this point there is no cause to the fire and damage estimates are unknown.

It’s believed two people lived at the residence.
