Durham Police – Male Deceased after Shooting in Oshawa

A double shooting left one dead and the suspect with life-threatening injuries in Oshawa on Sunday morning.

On Sunday, November 29, 2020, at approximately 10:30 a.m. members of Central East Division responded to a residential apartment on Simcoe Street near Athol Street in Oshawa for a shooting.

Police arrived to find a 27-year-old male without vital signs in an apartment unit. The victim was taken to a local hospital but later died in hospital. The suspect was located at the scene also suffering from a gunshot wound. He was transported to a Toronto-area trauma hospital where he remains in stable condition. Air1 assisted in searching the rooftops of the scene and a firearm was recovered at the scene.

Noah RENISON, age 35, is charged with First Degree Murder. He was held for a bail hearing.

This is believed to be an isolated incident and there are no ongoing community safety concerns.

The deceased is identified as Justin BLIGHT, age 27. This is the eighth homicide in Durham Region for 2020.
