In Editor Choice, Local

Heavy hearts at the Cobourg Firehall on Monday as a member of the firefighting family passes away.

Don King passed away surrounded by family on Sunday October 4.

Don started with the Cobourg Fire Department on August 1, 1967, progressing through the ranks, becoming Captain on April 1, 1974, eventually retiring as Platoon Chief in July, 1998.

Don was actively involved in the community after his retirement and served as a volunteer with the Red Cross during his retirement years, continuing to help those in need. He was also an avid Cobourg Cougar’s fan.

“RIP Don. Thank you for your many years of dedicated service and for all the memories.”

In honour of Don’s passing the flags at the firehall on Elgin Street have been lowered.
