Northumberland OPP – Family Dispute Results in Criminal Charges

(HAMILTON TOWNSHIP, ON) – Members from the Northumberland Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) attended a residence in the Harwood area on Friday July 3, 2020 at approximately 5:30 pm after receiving a report of an assault.

Officers arrived at the location and found a victim that had received injuries to the head stemming from a family dispute. The suspect who was found to be under the influence of alcohol, became belligerent and uncooperative with the police which resulted in the officers being threatened and assaulted.

As a result of the investigation a 27-year-old Hamilton Township resident has been arrested and charged with:

Assault with a weapon

Uttering Threats – cause death or bodily harm

Assault Peace Officer

The accused was held in custody for a Wash Court Hearing on Saturday July 4, 2020.

The name of the accused is being withheld to protect the identity of the victim.
