Flocked for Shelter Returns This Summer

In Community

Lindsey Edwards of Royal LePage ProAlliance Realty brings back Flocked 4 Shelter in support of Cornerstone Family Violence Prevention Centre (Cornerstone) this summer. Flocked 4 Shelter, which is entirely socially distanced friendly, will begin June 1st at 50 dollars a flock, with 100 per cent of proceeds supporting the various programs and services Cornerstone offers in the community.

“Last year as I prepared for the Sahara Desert Trek For Shelter, the Flocked 4 Shelter fundraising campaign was an absolute blast and success,” says Lindsey Edwards, Royal LePage ProAlliance Realty. “With all of the challenges this year has brought, I felt it was time to bring back the flamingos. If we can have some fun, put smiles on faces, and safely raise funds, I’m all for it,” adds Edwards.

A flock of flamingos can be sent anywhere in Northumberland to brighten someone’s day. Whether celebrating a birthday, anniversary, or just to spread some love and cheer, anyone can send a flock of flamingos to family, friends, or neighbours to help to raise funds and awareness for Cornerstone by visiting www.flocked4shelter.ca.

“We are very grateful and excited Lindsey has decided to bring back Flocked 4 Shelter,” says Janelle Eisler, Manager of Community Engagement with Cornerstone. “So much good was passed around because of it last year, and I know this will help to bring some joy and laughter to a socially distant world; all while raising funds to change the lives of local women and children impacted by violence,” adds Eisler.
A flock, which consists of 12 flamingoes, can be sent anywhere across Northumberland County for $50, or a “double flock” with 24 flamingoes can be sent for $100. The flocks are delivered and set up by a team of volunteers at the intended address within a few days of ordering, and remain for 3 days before being picked up and passed along to another location. Those who get flocked are encouraged to share the news on social media by using #Flocked4Shelter and to “flock it forward” by flocking someone else. To order a flock, or for more information, visit www.flocked4shelter.ca.
