Emotional Evening For Community As Spirit Nights for Essential Workers Takes Place in Hamilton Township

In Editor Choice, Local

It was the second Wednesday, for the Hamilton Township Fire Department Spirit Nights.

Just before heading out from the Baltimore Firehall, Captain Kevin Cameron and firefighter Brooks Heenan “HamiltonTwpStrong” logo on the passenger side windshield of a firetruck.

Then sharply at 7:30 p.m. firefighters from the three stations including Baltimore, Bewdley and Harwood ventured out into the community with emergency lights and sirens activated.

It was the fire departments way of saying “thank-you” to essential workers on the front lines of the COVID-19 crisis.

The community reciprocated by thanking the firefighters.

With pots and pans, smiles and tears, people came out of their homes to cheer on the men and women of the Hamilton Township Fire Department.

Families gathered at the bottom of their driveways, bundled up for the weather, waving, holding Canadian flags.

As the COVID-19 crisis continues, Hamilton Township Fire Department wants essential workers to know how much they are appreciated.

In this time of fear and anxiety where friends aren’t allowed to socialize because of a pandemic gripping the world, firefighters along with the citizens show the “spirit” of Hamilton Township.

The event takes place each Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. in Hamilton Township.
