Power Surge Causes Damage To Three Homes In Cobourg

Emergency services in Cobourg responded to Hamilton Avenue for arcing wires and found out quickly there was a bit more to the call.

At approximately 12:50 p.m. emergency services responded to Hamilton Avenue at Springbrook Road in Cobourg’s east end.

Workers were in the process of removing a tree from the front yard of a home, when a branch fell onto wires causing a short circuit.

A power surge went through three homes causing an unknown amount of damage.

At one home, a fire was quickly extinguished just below the hydro meter.

Another home suffered visible damage to cable wires in the basement.

Total damage is unknown.
