Durham Police – Three Teens Arrested after a Series of Carjacking’s

Investigators have arrested three teens after a series of carjacking’s in Whitby, Pickering and Ajax.

The first incident occurred on Saturday, February 1, 2020, at approximately 10:45 p.m., members of West Division were called to the area of Concession Road 3 and Rosebank Road in Pickering for a carjacking. The victim was operating his white Honda when another vehicle rear-ended him. They stopped the vehicles and the suspects confronted the victims, one armed with a gun and the other with a knife.

Both suspects had masks. One of the suspects took the victim’s vehicle, leaving him and his passenger on the side of the road.

On Monday February 3, 2020, at approximately 9:00 p.m., the suspects attempted to take another vehicle by Old Harwood Avenue and Magill Drive in Ajax, the suspects fired a round during the attempt and fled prior to obtaining the vehicle. No injuries were reported.

Minutes later, the suspects followed another victim and intentionally rear-ended her vehicle by Anderson Street and Rossland Road East in Whitby. When the victim got out to look at the damage, the suspects stole her Hyundai vehicle and personal effects.

At approximately 9:39 p.m., members of West Division had a fourth report of an attempted carjacking at Rossland Road West and Harwood Avenue North in Ajax, but the suspects were not successful. Officers responded quickly and were able to locate the suspects near Westney Road and Kingston Road in Pickering. The suspect vehicle failed to stop for police and eventually lost control and rolled over.

Three teens were arrested, they suffered minor injuries as a result of the collision and received medical treatment.

A 15-year-old and two 16-year-olds, all from Toronto were charged with: Robbery x4; Use Firearm in Commission of Offence x3; Possession Over $5,000 and Possession Under $5,000. They were all held for a bail hearing.
